Notice is hereby given that in accordance with a letter from kir. Chau Lo, the Superintendent of the Government Honey Department, requesting us to hold a meeting with a view to uniting the various Guilds for the maintenance of the note currency, a general meeting will be held at 7.30 p.m. on the 5th. instant (i.e. the 25th. day of the 8th. moon) at the Sz Yap (Four Districts) Commercial and Industrial Principal Society, and all of you are requested to be present to discuss as to the union of the different Guilds to push the scheme forward. We hope that you will be present without fail.

-ent of the Government Money Department.

The "Society of Chinese abroad for the promotion of

patriotic subscriptions."

It has been resolved by the Chamber of Commerce at Can- -ton that in order to maintain the note currency, from the 25th. September Canton notes should be taken as the standard, and accept- -ed in accordance with their face value. Again on the 28th. ultimo (September) it was proposed to unite with all Hongkong merchants in the maintenance of the face value of the notes. On the 30th. ultimo (September) 1, Chau Lo, came to Hongkong, and during the

next

few days attended many meetings of the Money Dealers' Guild in Hongkong to discuss the various measures to be adopted for the purpose. The Guild, well realising the right course to be pursued, decided that from the 1st. of the 9th. moon (10th. October, 1912,) Canton notes should be regarded as the standard, and that daily thereafter only transactions affecting the premium to be paid for Hongkong
